How we work
HoyooTrek tells you what to expect on the world's multi-day treks. Our information is for guidance only. Here is how we research it, what we don't do, and how the site pays for itself.
What we write
Each trek guide covers the questions that shape a trip:
- altitude, routes and the number of days on the trail
- temperatures by season and the best months to go
- food, including halal options, and prayer on the trail
- real costs, permits, park fees, visas and guide rules
- what to pack, insurance and getting there
How we check facts
- Elevations and coordinates: two sources must agree, or the official one wins.
- Route lengths and days: when sources differ, we give a range rather than one number.
- Permits, park fees and guide rules: taken from the official park or government site, linked and dated.
- Visa rules: checked on official government sites and re-checked at least every six months.
- Every page shows when it was last updated, and every trek guide ends with its sources and the date we checked them.
What we don't do
- We don't select, rank, rate or vet trekking operators or guides, and we never label one as the best.
- We don't copy prices, descriptions or reviews from booking sites. You compare operators, live prices, dates and verified reviews on the booking sites themselves, through our Where to book and compare links.
- We don't publish invented reviews or quotes. Any star rating shown next to an offer comes from the partner, named.
- We don't promise summit success. Altitude sickness, insurance and guide rules are stated plainly.
How the site is paid for
When you book or buy through some of our links, the booking site may pay us a commission, at no extra cost to you. We also show ads served by Google AdSense. Neither changes what we write, and no operator pays to appear in a guide. Details are in our affiliate disclosure.
Before you book
Treks change: park fees rise, routes close, visa rules move. Confirm the details that matter to you with your operator and official sources, and ask a doctor about altitude if you have any doubt.
